Cirencester-based Acoustic Energy have announced that the first stocks of their WiFi radio which claims to be capable of accessing over 99% of internet radio stations, have arrived in the UK just in time for Christmas.

Acoustic Energy WiFi radio

The AE WiFi radio connects to your broadband connection via 802.11b/g wireless and can stream live radio straight off the net to where ever the WiFi radio is located in your house, be it the bedroom, living room, kitchen or even the garden.

Unlike the recently released Squeezebox v3, the AE WiFi Radio supports the widespread Real Audio format meaning you'll be able to listen to a large number of extra stations which are missed out of the Slim Devices unit, although unlike the Squeezebox there's no support for the Ogg Vorbis streaming format - something which Acoustic Energy plan to tackle with a future software upgrade.

More details about the radio are available on the Acoustic Energy website and can buy the unit from John Lewis.
