A next-generation Lego Mindstorms robot has been unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show, boasting a number of improved features over their previous model, including support for Bluetooth connectivity.

Whilst the Lego Mindstorms NXT system is primarily aimed as a children's toy, the original Mindstorms Robot which launched in 1998 proved a surprise hit with gadget fans and developers who found that the programming language, sensors and motors used in the robot offered a lot more potential use than just their intended purpose.
The NXT adds to the capabilities of the Robotics Invention System by allowing control of the "intelligent brick" by Bluetooth using devices such as mobile phones and PDA's alongside USB 2.0, and also sees a number of new sensors introduced to the toolkit including sound and ultrasonic allowing the robot to "see", in addition to improved touch and light sensors.
More details about the Lego Mindstorms NXT robot can be found on the official website, and you should be able to pick one up for $249.99 (around £200) when it's released this summer.
