Apple have announced the iPod that fans have been expecting for ages now - an iPod with full video playback support, featuring a 2.5 inch screen and enough storage space on the top-end model for around 150 hours of video.

Two versions of the fifth-generation iPod with Video will be made available, with the 30GB model retailing for £220 and a 60GB one setting you back £300 - both in a choice of black or white, as has become the norm for recent iPod releases from Apple.
Whilst a number of video formats are supported by the device (H.264 video .m4v, .mp4 and .mov) it doesn't support the ultimately more popular and widespread formats such as wmv, avi and mpeg, which we feel could be a major disadvantage for many potential owners, especially those with PC's rather than Mac's.
Thankfully firmware upgrades are promised which will enable further formats, so hopefully Apple will decide that support for some of these much-used formats is added, simply if to save the time of converting files and inconveniencing users who can drag-and-drop those filetypes straight on to other personal media players without hassle.
Apple's "iPod with Video" is available to buy now from their online store, alongside an array of accessories including a new Camera Connector allowing for the transfer of photos direct from your digital camera to iPod.
